Chapter 9

The sun is finally making its entrance on the horizon, the sky is pink and the clouds are thin and high in the sky. I am lying in the bed looking into the face of the man I slept with last night and he is smiling at me with a twinkle in his eyes. “Good morning beautiful,” he says to me.

“Good morning” I reply, looking into his eyes that seem to be laughing at my early morning confusion. We are laying in this huge king size bed, fully clothed and the music from my playlist still playing softly in the background. Apparently, we’d fallen asleep in each other’s arms, listening to the music last night. Slowly, the cobwebs of sleep start to vanish and memories of last night’s dancing and sensuality come back to me. I feel a bit embarrassed but he raises my chin with his warm hand and says, “last night was a beautiful night spent talking, dancing, and enjoying but in control of urges we both felt.”

I reply, “I guess the night is over,” looking into his eyes. I hope it sounds more like a question that a statement.

Taking my response for a statement he agrees and we resign ourselves to the understanding that this was, yet again, a missed opportunity. We hug and rise, to start our day with whatever lies ahead. I ask if he wants to take a shower before leaving. He agrees and heads off to the bathroom while I order breakfast for two; smiling and taking small satisfaction in handling that small task for him.

With breakfast ordered and Quan in the shower I have time to kill so I log on to Facebook with my cell and check my messages and notifications. Cheri is still up to her crazy antics so I comment on some of her posts and move on to check out my Instagram account before logging off again. The shower is still running and I’m ready to get on with my own shower. I walk boldly into the bathroom. The clear shower doors reveal Quan still bathing with his back toward me; nice view. I start removing my clothing letting each item drop to the floor where I stand. I walk with a determined purpose towards the shower door. Just as I reach for the handle Quan says, “It took you long enough to get here! Come in; let me take care of you.”

My hand hesitates on the shower door handle at the sound of his words. He’s been waiting for me to join him in the shower this whole time! My, my, this man is quite surprising. I have to admit, I like it. I pull the handle and step in the shower behind him. He turns to face me and looks at me standing fully naked in front of his bare, wet body, which is rather amazing. He slowly pulls me under the warm water and watches as the streams of water cascade across my caramel-colored skin.
